Khris walked into the Tiki Bar and over to the bar section. She walked over to the bar tender and asked for a Shirley Temple. She stood away from the bar, three years too young to sit at the bar. But she didn't mind. She could drive, vote, and have her own apartment, and that's all she cared about.
She found a nice table, fit for three by the window over-looking the Gulf of Mexico. She got her drink and walked over, sitting all by her lonesome self. She didn't mind being alone necessarily, it had been a hard day at work, and she needed some time to unwind.
"Can I take your orda, miss?" A man's accented voice almost startled her. She wasn't even consciously aware that her eyes were fixed on the horizon. She turned around as calmly as she could, setting her green eyes on probably the most handsome waiter at the Tiki Bar, Caleb. The Australian accent only seemed to enhance his golden hair and sparkling blue eyes, it was hard for Khris not to fall off her chair. When Caleb recognize her, he smiled.
"Aw, g'day, Khris," he said, flashing a heart-melting smile. "Didn't see it was you. What can I getcha?"
"Hey, Caleb," she said as she fumbled with the menu that was placed on the table and focused on not letting her cheeks turn a bright crimson color. Did he notice the certain effect he had with women and girls? Did he know that he could dazzle someone with a bright flash of his smile? Khris believed he did, and used it to his advantage. "I'll have a plate of onion rings please, with a thing of ketchup on the side."
"Right on ya'," he replied, jotting it down. "Anythin' else ya'd like?" Khris shook her head no, and thanked him quietly. She felt her cheeks go red and she looked away. As he walked away, she looked back toward the Gulf to hide her cheeks. But she was too late, she heard him chuckling to himself on the way back to the kitchen.
