Okay. If you are reading this forum, it means that an admin directed you towards this problem.
Quotation marks are used to show the speech of a character. They are not to be confused with apostrophies which are used in the combining of words and picking out the word in the sentence that is being explained or questioned. Quotation marks MUST be used when roleplaying to avoid the confusion of the other members.
For example, instead of writing:
I know, Hubba is just the cutest Sea Lion I have ever seen, gushed Caroline. He's so good with his tricks and is a really fast learner. To give an example, Caroline gave the signal to Hubba to do a flipper-stand. Hubba performed his trick without a flaw. See? He just learned that Monday and he performs it so well.
you would write instead...

Now, you wouldn't go about underlining all of your quotation marks, I just marked them to show when, where and how they are used in a proper sentence.
But you can definitely see the difference between the two paragraphs. In the first paragraph, it will be very difficult for the person you are roleplaying with to de-code what you're trying to write. It will take them an extra few minutes or so to be able to tell apart action from speech.
In the second paragraph, the quotation marks are used in the proper place and form. This is an obvious display of the separation of the speech and action of a character. This not only makes the paragraph easy to read, but it is also the correct form of English writing.

Apostrophies are used for different reasons. They can be used as the joining of 'will' and 'not' into 'won't', or 'it' and 'is' into 'it's'. They also serve to show what something meant.
For example:
a.| Oh no, Hubba won't be able to perform in this weather, it's threatening to storm.
b.| "We'll have to lift this log to get it out of the trail," Caroline said while she inspected the fallen tree.
"What do you mean by 'we', Caro?" Kelly asked with a skeptical raise of her eyebrow.
c.| "Well, mother," Kelly snapped. "Cleaning my room isn't exactly what I would call 'fun'."
-
In example a.|, the apostrophies are used to form the words 'won't' and 'it's'.
In examples b.|, the apostrophy are used to show that the word 'we' is what Kelly wants explaine.
In example c.|, the apostrophy is used to surround a word that Kelly is quoting from her mother's words and using them in her own sentence.
Now that we've covered the basics. Any questions?
