History: Grew up in the Chicago area. Visited Brookfield Zoo and Shedd Aquarium when living in the Chicago area. Interned at Dolphins Plus. Interned at Indianapolis Zoo. Worked at Shedd Aquarium, Indianapolis Zoo, and Brookfield Zoo. On her first trip to Sea World when she was eight years old, she started to love dolphins. Watching trainers interact with marine mammals during training sessions made Gretchen want to become a trainer. Interacting with the dolphins at Brookfield Zoo also made her want to become a trainer. She observed the fun trainers had working with the dolphins. Her dad took her to Shedd Aquarium and Brookfield Zoo. Gretchen went to IMATA conferences and got to know many trainers. The trainers Gretchen knew recommended her for the job at Journey to Atlantis Marine World. She got a degree in psycology. Now she is a trainer at Journey to Atlantis Marine World.
